I have a question for those who are nurses or who work in a health care setting. I am starting my clinicals for nursing school in January and I am looking to get really nice comfortable shoes. They have to be all white and heel and toe completely enclosed, meaning no clogs, but tennis shoes are allowed. The only problem is that last year I sprained my ankle very bad, with an air cast and crutches for a while after. It never healed properly and I have a lot of scar tissue and pain. They wanted to do surgery, but I refused, seeing as I have been on the waiting list for this seat for two years. I have great grades, but the amount of teachers is nowhere near enough to accommodate the amount of students in the program. I have waited so long for my seat, there is no chance I am going to give it up, which would inevitably happen if I got surgery. Therefore, I am looking for shoes that are going to be comfortable and hopefully be supportive enough that I can stand for long periods of time without being in too much pain. All suggestions are helpful. Thanks!
I’ll be a first year nursing student. Shoes must be all leather, closed toe and heel, and all white with no other color. A lot of shoes I’m finding are rather orthopedic looking and I’m wanting something cute and young looking, but good for my feet during long clinicals and shifts. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!
I am currently a nursing student, and have just graduated up from 8 hour clinicals to 12 hour clinicals (during which I am on my feet 90% of the time). I have tried LOADS of different kinds of shoes and nothing seems to work. I used to have a pair of Danskos that I LOVED when I worked as a pharm tech, but I am afraid that I won’t be able to run in them if an emergency arises.
Per school policy I am not allowed to wear anything with holes in it (such as crocs) and I am not allowed to wear slip on shoes or clogs. Also, the color has to be all white.
I was just wondering if anyone knew of a nice supportive shoe with a high arch that I could get…. I don’t think my feet (and back) can handle this much longer
I am going to be starting my clinicals soon, and I want something that looks nice and is acceptable for the hospital as well. They don’t have to be nursing shoes- but they have to be all white and cannot be any type of clogs. And absolutely no Crocs. Basically, I want something that looks nice and can pass for nursing shoes as well. Comfort isn’t that big of an issue, as I won’t be at the hospital for long periods of time. What do the younger girls who work at hospitals wear for shoes (I’m 20) ? Most of the ‘nursing shoes’ I’ve seen seem to be for older women, and stuff that I wouldn’t wear. Anyone have any ideas what some nice shoes would be? Thanks so much
I’m starting school this coming August for a health care program, and one of the uniform requirements is an "all-white shoe", preferably athletic, (no clogs, sling backs, crocs, etc) and I will need them to be very comfortable and supportive as I will be standing in surgery for clinicals for numerous hours at a time. I was looking at Nike Shox and Puma, but any other recommendations? Thanks!
